József Attila: Érted
haragszom, nem ellened
Mikor fölkél a nap,
a sosem haragvók hajától eltéritődik a harmat,
elhoznak
lassan az ágyadig.
Érted haragszom én, nem ellened,
nosza szorítsd meg a kezem, mellyel magosra tartalak álmaimban,
erősítsen az én haragom, dehogy is bántson, kedves.

Attila Jozsef: I Am Angry for You
Translation by Anton N. Nyerges
When the sun rises,
the dew parts from the hair of the never angry.
Do not let my anger hurt you ever.
I often think of the large, spacious fields where I may
have to die.
The mastmakers arrive in compact ranks,
and triumphing there, six million ironworkers hurl their
ringing hammers to the sky.
Let me admit your kisses, dear,
into the heavenly storm of tools.
You do not see how I draw myself up when I speak of the
future.
If you wish, I will come only after the city?celebrating
triumph,
or the bakers will bind their good paddles.
stretch me out, and with their floury heads bent down
carry me to your bed.
I am angry for you, not at you.
Squeeze the hand that holds you high in my sleep.
Let my anger make you strong, and do not let it hurt you,
dear.
